How Maria Teresa Beguiristain Alcorta exhibition about Stitch and silence
The exhibition “Stitch and silence” crated by Maria Teresa Beguiristain Alcorta has the participation of eight Spanish women: Yolanda Herranz, Maribel Domenech, Natividad Navalon, Ixia White, Rachel White, Celeste Garrido Meira, Concha Saez and Sonia Estevez Touron.
Beguiristain said: “They all speak from their being of women, from their need to express their feminine experience, and with a common claim, the things women are neither trivial nor simple to understand or build. Closer y shut or sew and singing is not easy to do, but on the contrary, requires the ability, skill, training and extraordinary powers of observation ”
Thus, there is a claim shrill and angry, says the curator, as is feared, sometimes, of feminist art. “None of the pieces exhibited here it is. It is a tribute to so many anonymous and valuable work of women who do not want to be important, women of cover, but whose job, apparently so simple, it shows the complexity of seemingly simple and unknown essential.
Upon entering, we found the work of Yolanda Herranz with his definition of happiness “Having what you want. Wanting what you have, “a play on words that entangles us even more if possible in a paradoxical world. Concha Saez plasma game with his series “The puzzled states” in which the protagonist is the famous cartoon Pikachu. Symbolizing innocence, the antics of the game and the role of women as procreative. The exhibition is a journey through the female mind, is immersed in the landscape of a woman. Women throughout history have represented all types of stereotypes: femme fatale, cold, calculating, seductive, sexual object, etc. It is precisely for this reason that women have worked, work and work from different assumptions claiming the female figure throughout our existence.
